Clear Sight

i see with clear sight
all the deceptions have fallen away
i know that the end draws near
but it has always been so

after years of keeping my eyes
very tightly shut and closed
sometimes opening them a moment
just to peek

now i have decided
a decision has been made
i have opened them fully
and now look out unblinking

resting in loving arms
held above the fray
i see the world for what it is
and i am at peace

i have come a long way
my vision has changed
only because, finally
i have opened my eyes
