Joining of the Paths
How much longer must I wait, dearest?
How much longer until I can hold your hand?
How much longer until we can walk together along the sand?
How much longer until you're dressed in white and we kiss?
My heart finds itself full of yearning
The cup of waiting begins to fill
I wonder where you are, I wonder what you're doing
I wonder if you're wondering as I am, when the wait will end?
Ah, but patience is a virtue
So many wise men have said
I shall wait, making myself the man I am meant to be
I know in my heart of hearts that you are the lady for me
But where oh dearest?
But when oh dearest?
Peaceful and gentle, I am now, I trust in the One who made us both
Together we've been ordained before time
Coincidence is simply a secular way to say
That God's grace smiles upon a day
I know that all the meetings, that first time our eyes meet
All this wonderfulness lies ahead, lies before our feet
A long journey to tread we yet have, a life to live
But I know that soon, these two paths shall meet
And where once went one, there will go then two
Christ shall smile, joy and life, truth and virtue!
How I look forward to that day!
It is the light in my eyes,
Every smile I smile is but a shadow of the smile I shall smile
Upon the day when before God we are made One
And yet now, I await, pledging to be True
I will stay upon the Road that has been set before me
I shall not stray, for I know you too stride straight
But, my heart cannot help asking, where, when
But my soul knows the answer is contained in the Lord's truth
The Lord knows what he is doing
It is not good for man to be alone
And so I trust, I wait and I smile, for I see beyond today
I cannot wait to say the words that proclaim my love
I love you
Ah! When will that moment come?
In its good time, and it shall be sweet, a gentle voice reminds me
If only I had patience
But I am torn already with love!
What then, will happen when we shall meet?
Ah, then we shall each have our other halves, and we shall have peace!
Do you too feeling this longing?
This deep longing, hidden in the depths of your heart?
I cannot understand it, I cannot diagnosis it, I cannot unravel it
I place it at Christ's feet as a gift, only His hands can reveal truth
In time, in truth, in love
We shall meet
Ah, how I look forward to that day!
Ah, how I wish to see you, to hold you, to love you
Dearest, please wait. We shall meet!
It has been orchestrated before time.
There are no coincidences, and when the story unknown shall be told
Both of us shall look back and laugh, that we ever doubted we were for each other
That we ever worried that we would never find each other
That we ever thought that we might miss each other
That we ever presumed that Our Lord's timing was not divine
That we ever had a doubting thought flicker in our hearts
But now, alas, we are each alone, striding upon our paths
We are climbing a hill, we cannot see beyond it
But the Lamb made the hill, and He knows that beyond
There lies a joining of the paths, where two become one.
