Asking Outward
- Listen to me read this poem.
Now’s not the time
I can’t begin the journey
Till I’ve gathered the supplies
Simply put, I’d love to go
But maybe not now
Let me just grow?
I can’t go stomping through
Fields filled with flowers fair
Till I’ve learned a nimble way among them there
Sure from the outside looking in
I may seem tall and ready
But inside looking out, I’m still heady
To embark upon this vast new world
That I’ve only found a while ago
Without knowing what I have yet?
Fools’ folly, I can’t go there
Sorry, but I have to stay here
And grow, ere I go
When I do, I’ll be set
Filled with a confidence divine
I’ll have prayed to God
That always pays
I’m not going till I’m ready
And I’m not ready yet
Show truth, Be patient
Let me grow -- mind, body
And soul -- ere I go.
